The Vale of Glamorgan Council are running a first aid course for informal carers.  Knowing some simple first aid skills could be vital and a free, first aid awareness course will be running in the Civic Offices between 10am-12pm on Wednesday 22^nd March 2017.

The National Assembly for Wales’ Children, Young People and Education Committee is undertaking a consultation on the First 1,000 Days.

The Committee will consider the extent to which Welsh Government policies and programmes support the early parent role, before birth and during the first 2 years of a child’s life, and crucially how effective these are in supporting children’s emotional and social capabilities and development

Cardiff Council is looking for feedback about Family First services, and we need YOUR help!

Time credits offer a way of rewarding people for giving their time freely. If you join a scheme you earn credits for the hours you volunteer which can be 'spent' in a variety of places. See below for an update on local schemes.

For 23 years we have hosted the Understanding Disability Awards. These recognise the outstanding efforts of people, groups and organisations that go out of their way to involve and include people with a learning disability

The New Theatre are holding a one-off show that is adjusted to suit the needs of children and young people with sensory needs, ASD and learning disabilities.

The Social Services & Well Being Act has been in force for a year. It affects all carers and people that needs support or assistance. 

Cardiff & the Vale Parents Federation is holding an information morning on Friday 28th April for family carers to learn how the act affects them.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission seek the views of disabled people and carers on housing for disabled people. Please follow the link and spend some time sharing your views- what you think matters!

A consultation that ends on the 25th January 2017 is underway. Proposals that will increase the weekly charges for care from £60 to £70 then probably to £100 within four years are being considered.

Around a quarter of learners in Wales will have some form of additional learning need during their education. The current legislative framework for supporting them is based on a model introduced more than 30 years ago. This Bill proposes to replace existing legislation with a new legal framework- your views are needed

Nominations are now being invited for this year’s Understanding Disability Awards, which recognises individuals, groups, schools, children and employers who have made a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities.
