Our Carers Gatherings offer a relaxed informal setting where carers can meet others who share the same responsibilities and challenges, let their hair down and share experiences. The gatherings are free for carers and refreshments or lunches are provided.

Carers UK have released two information guides for carers in Wales - well worth a look!

The Spice scheme offers you a way to get something back for the time that you freely give. Hours committed can be banked and then exchanged for other services, items or access to a variety of events or activities.

We would like to draw you attention to the Caudwell Children's charity. They offer a wide range of practical support to families with disabled children. Assistance ranges from support with therapies and assessments to help in achieving their goals and dreams

The Social Services & Well Being Act has been in force for a year. It affects all carers and people that needs support or assistance. 

Cardiff & the Vale Parents Federation is holding an information morning on Friday 28th April for family carers to learn how the act affects them.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission seek the views of disabled people and carers on housing for disabled people. Please follow the link and spend some time sharing your views- what you think matters!

During Carers Week (11th-15th June) and Learning Disability Week (16th-23rd June) there are lots of opportunities to meet other carers and gain information on latest developments. The Parents federation are also holding a series of coffee mornings, breakfast meetings and lunches- all free for carers!

Universal Credit

Universal Credit is a new payment for working-age people whether they are in or out of work.  It combines some of the benefits and tax credits that a person may be getting.  It will not affect people of pension age.

Universal Credit Full Service will be rolled out in Cardiff from 28 February 2018.

Caring Times May 2017

The Vale of Glamorgan Council are running a first aid course for informal carers.  Knowing some simple first aid skills could be vital and a free, first aid awareness course will be running in the Civic Offices between 10am-12pm on Wednesday 22^nd March 2017.
