At the Cardiff and Vale Parents Federation, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and that parents and caregivers are the most powerful advocates for their children’s health, education, and wellbeing. We are a collective voice for families across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, working tirelessly to ensure that every parent feels supported, informed, and empowered.
Who We Are
We are a parent-led federation of local families, support groups, and community partners united by a shared vision: a world where all children thrive, and no parent feels alone. Founded by parents, for parents, we understand the unique challenges families face—especially those caring for children with additional needs, disabilities, or complex health conditions.
Our Mission
- Amplify Parent Voices: We champion the rights and experiences of families in decision-making forums with health boards, schools, local authorities, and policymakers.
- Build Support Networks: We connect parents with peer groups, workshops, and resources to reduce isolation and foster community.
- Navigate Systems: We help families understand and access vital services (SEND support, health services, education, and social care).
- Drive Change: We collaborate with partners to improve policies and practices that impact children and families across our region.
What We Do
✅ Peer Support Groups: Safe spaces for parents to share experiences, advice, and solidarity.
✅ Information & Workshops: Practical sessions on EHCPs, disability rights, mental health, and more.
✅ Partnership Advocacy: Representing parent perspectives in strategic meetings with Cardiff Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and schools.
✅ Campaigns & Projects: Leading initiatives to address gaps in local services and promote inclusive communities.
