Elaine recognised for her efforts!

Elaine has been involved in learning disability services and as a mother herself for over 40 years.

In recent years, especially since the loss of her daughter Mandy, Elaine has been successful in lobbying for the provision of better services in the community, in order to make it more accessible to people with learning and other disabilities.

Her work in promoting the installation of Changing Places (accessible loo's) across the region has highlighted the shocking situation whereby people with a disability have to go home to use toilet facilities or face the indignity and risk of being changed on public loo floors!

She has also been a driving force in highlighting the need for better care pathways for people with a learning disability that are showing signs of or developing Dementia.
